On occasions, some couples really stick in my mind. Scott & Emily are one of them. With meeting lots of couples and photographing around 40 weddings a year my mind space becomes very consumed with work, new people, wedding dates and so on. To try and remember everyone is a tough act, yet I still step it up a notch on the wedding day itself, with a whole new set of names and faces to digest, from bridesmaids and best men to mums, dads and kids alike.
So, the point I’m making is, if someone has a key point about them that helps me match a face to a name, all the better.
For Scott this was WINDSURFING. During our wedding chat, we spent 10 mins on the necessaries (dress, make-up, venue etc), and 30mins on windsurfing, favourite beaches, camping, destination holidays and general outdoors subjects. It wasn’t a surprise therefore to hear from Emily when we spoke before the wedding that they were going on a windsurfing honeymoon to Morocco. Although I think she may have secretly hoped leaving the organisation of the honeymoon solely up to Scott meant he’d possibly consider the Maldives at least. Alas no!
This for me kinda sums up this couple. Very laid back and happy to take on life with a spring in their stride and a smile on their faces. Scott’s speech was appropriately ‘made up on the spot’, and Emily breezed along during the day with little concern over timings and formalities, leaving these to the staff involved in the wedding day; which in all honesty is most defiantly the best option, seeing as I’ve notched up around 300 weddings in my career to date. I do feel sometimes however that some couples attend more in a season than I do, especially when all their mates ‘hit that age’!
Anyway onto the day itself. I hope you enjoy Scott & Emily’s wedding photos at The Wood Norton.
Bridal preps started at Emily’s parents home, this beautiful barn conversion.
It’s always best to take the Champagne outside if you’re unsure!
Boys will be boys.
“Yep, all okay here, no tears……….yet”
The best men look REALLY concerned…..deciding if it’s appropriate to laugh or offer support.
I do that when I take group photos too.
How did his photo of me turn out I wonder?
The Wood Norton
There are some wonderful views across the Evesham countryside from The Wood Norton. A perfect day to be out on the lawn too.
You can never fit enough kids on a swing I say.
There are some great indoor spaces for wedding photos at The Wood Norton.
Never without a beer in his hand Scott actually took a pause mid way through his speech to get a refreshment from the bar.
I love the random nature of this photo, with Scotts dad’s head substituted for a picture.
Best men double act.
