Saturday the 18th August is a special day, not only was it Ashley & Laura’s wedding day, but also my little girls birthday. In true Matt Davis style though, I postponed birthday arrangements and ended up at work in Oxfordshire, returning to the popular wedding venue of Friars Court. I did miss out on pony riding and afternoon party tea, but instead was treated to first class cricket, space hopper Olympics, world class boules….ohh and a wedding!
The ceremony was outside under the rose arbour at Friars Court, a beautiful spot, and apparently one of the first wedding venues in Oxfordshire to offer an outdoor wedding ceremony option. The weather was just about perfect too…..although maybe a little contrasty at times for a fussy photographer! :-)
Anyhow, without further ado here are the Friars Court wedding photographs from Ashley & Laura’s day in August 2012.
I’d not come across red bridesmaid dresses in all my time as a photographer…… so this was a first.
I’m guessing a red theme was in order, based on dads tie too!
Ahh yeah, red wedding flowers, i’m getting it now!
I love the hand gesture here. Insert quote “so what do we do now….where do we go?”
There were plenty of garden games for guests to play. The coconut shy was pretty cool.
How did this (above), turn into this (below)? Come on….what was said?
There was no wedding cake, instead Ashley & Laura had Eton Mess, which was ‘spooned’ rather than ‘cut’.
I like this sequence during the speeches.
After dinner the light was perfect for some couple portraits around Friars Court. August usually turns up a filed of corn at one of my wedding venues, but this year Friars Court and Kingscote Barn had bumper crops. How could I not take advantage?
I love the light in this photo. Perfect for a black & white couple portrait.
The evenings entertainment started a little over enthusiastically as literally the first ball went straight into the moat! Clearly it was going downhill from here – too much champagne on a hot day!
It’s not often at a wedding I come across a guy sitting around with no trousers. Apparently playing cricket in a suit can be restrictive when lunging!
The evidence of serious drinking is there right in front of you.
If you have been searching for Friars Court wedding photographs and need a wedding photographer for your special day, drop me line, I’d love to hear from you.
