Winter weddings are ever more popular and over Christmas this year I was at Eynsham Hall to photograph Jay & Laura’s big day. Wedding photography in winter is always a challenge, time is against you, it gets dark very early, typically it’s cold outside and guests are reluctant therefore to step out unless they have mulled wine to tempt them! However, when the sky’s cobalt blue and there’s a sprinkling of frost on the ground who can blame anyone for wanting a wedding at this time of year. It’s on par with the best summer days, and you get to party with your friends and family over the festive period too.
Jay and Laura found me after a recommendation from a wedding at Friars Court that I photographed back in 2013. Pete and Clare are friends of theirs, and had lived nearby in Oxfordshire. I’m not often out this way, so Eynsham Hall was a new wedding venue for me to work at. It’s an impressive building, with plenty of accommodation for guests and has ample space inside and throughout the grounds for the wedding itself.
If you’re thinking of this venue for your big day, or are just a guests from the wedding, then sit back and take a look though these Eynsham Hall wedding photos to get a feel for the day.
The reality of getting married may have just dawned on Laura. This was a rare moment where she was actually standing still for 5 seconds!
Guests arrived at Eynsham Hall and enjoyed drinks before the wedding reception. It’s a beautiful room to relax in eh?
I can confirm there were a couple of seats that did mean guests somewhat had the sun in their eyes! $-)
I love this photo of ‘signing of the register’. It’s not the signing that is significant, but Jay’s gaze at his wedding ring that really makes the shot special.
It may have been late December, but the sky was as blue as a fine summers day. Just a pity the temperature didn’t match! Needless to say, hardy as we Brits are, wedding photos outside in winter are still par for the course.
Eynsham Hall has some great locations for wedding photos. I loved these arches, the buildings archecteure lends itself really well to my photography style. Incorporating it into the wedding photos is a joy, especially with the golden light bouncing off the stone.
Surely the speech wasn’t that bad?
Best man clearly pleased to have had a mention in the speeches.
I had competition in the photography stakes.
Even the pond had iced over it was so cold! And for those wishing to know, it was very cold lying on the ground to take this photo too :-)
As the evening kicked in, guests took to the dance floor and danced the night away. That’s gotta be one of the best way to claw back some of that Christmas excess with a good boogie!
