A few Chavenage House winter wedding photos from Dave and Lucy’s wedding in December 2010.
Winter weddings are becoming ever more popular, it’s a great time of year to get friends and family together and with wedding venues catering with a festive twist it’s certainly a nice idea. For a photographer it’s a totally different approach to that of a summers day, yet despite the lack of hot sunshine, the quality of light is usually far better to take photos in. The only problems are the getting to and fro, especially with the white winters we’ve had lately, and Dave & Lucy’s wedding was no exception. A light covering of snow had fallen, but thankfully it didn’t hamper progress, unless of course you’re wearing peep toe wedding shoes! It’s amazing actually how a winter wedding, despite being polar opposite in weather terms to that of a summer wedding, brides usually still wear the same outfit – a slinky white dress! I do pity the bridesmaids though as they don’t have the same ‘wedding high’ as a bride which somehow creates an inner warmth that negates the need for a coat.
Anyhow, enough weather waffle, Dave and Lucy had their wedding at the magnificent Tetbury Church, then zipped off to Chavenage House for their wedding reception, which had a festive Christmas theme.
I love this photo taken during the bridal preps. I think it sums up documentary wedding photography really well in that it depicts a typical wedding scene during the morning bridal preparations, yet is in no way scripted, just observed and captured.
This is a great moment where the bridesmaid is starting the wedding music on the laptop for the father of the bride & bride to practice walking down the aisle.
The aforementioned wdding music – ‘The Arrival of the Queen of Sheeba'”
Vintage wedding car & snow – is that a good combination?
Yep, the bride was definitely late.
These two photos are great together. Again is such a typical scene at many weddings. No one wants to carry an ugly bag around, but all girls need a handbag right. Well simple, just off load them on someone else to hold/carry!
Thumbs up – is it safe to get out?
The chauffeur even cleaned the car down before the bride got out in case of dirt getting on her wedding dress – what a guy!
Check out the hand over Lucy’s head to keep the sleet off – fab huh! What a brilliant bridesmaid.
What a magnificent church huh. St Mary the Virgin Church, Tetbury.
Now that wedding jacket looks a little warmer than the earlier outfit.
Gotta keep that dress clean. Good work, whoever that is.
This was great when Lucy wrote on the steamed up car windows. Problem was, she didn’t write it back to front, so you had to view it from inside for it to make sense.
Flowers in jam jars is so simple yet looks great.
These Christmas theme wedding table decorations were super, and better still when matched with singing the 12 days of Christmas when guests sat to eat.
