What Rococo Gardens say about their wedding venue
Rococo Gardens is set in a hidden Cotswold valley, on the edge of the picturesque village of Painswick, in Gloucestershire.
It’s showcase gardens have a flamboyant design dating back to the 18th century and offer breathtaking views out across the Cotswold countryside.
Wedding ceremonies take place in either the Eagle House, or Red House and are only really limited by the amount of outside standing room for guests as the buildings are not suitable for large numbers inside.
The terrace around the Red House allows close family and the couple to stand/sit comfortably during the wedding ceremony, and around 80 guests to gather on the lawn area leading up to the house.
Rococo Gardens also have an Orangery that can accommodate 70 people, and is suitable for light refreshments after the wedding ceremony.
Other features within the garden include the Pigeon House, the maze and also the Exedra (seen here in the photo).
Address: Painswick Rococo Gardens, Painswick, Gloucestershire. GL6 6TH
Other Cotswold wedding venues nearby: Cotswolds88 Hotel, Cowley Manor, Manor by the Lake, Barnsley House, Bibury Court.
What I think of Rococo Gardens as a wedding venue
If you get married here in the UK, one thing always in the back of your mind is the weather. If you’re planning a wedding at Rococo Gardens therefore, this become even more of an issue.
Rococo Gardens has magnificent gardens with small ‘Folly‘s’ dotted around it. The most substantial is the Red House, where most couple choose for the wedding ceremony.
Standing on the crest of a large slope, this long walk up the aisle isn’t for the feint hearted. Neither are the ‘alternate plans’ if it’s going to be a wet wedding!
I’ve photographed a few weddings at Rococo Gardens, one of which can be seen here on my website. When it’s rained, guests have simply stood outside with umbrellas. This does have a charm of some nature, but isn’t going to suite everyone.
However on a super summers day, this wedding venue really is offering the perfect backdrop for an outdoor wedding ceremony.
Leaving time afterwards to stroll around the gardens for wedding photos, and for guests to savour the delights is a must.
If you would like to contact me about your photography needs I’d love to hear from you.
