I’m never really sure if Dumbleton Hall should be considered a Cotswolds wedding venue, as despite it’s proximity to quintessential Cotswold villages (such as Winchcombe) it actually has a Worcestershire postcode. The fact it’s right on the edge of the Gloucestershire county boundary and only a stones throw from my home in Cheltenham, always makes it feel that much closer. It’s certainly a charming village though if you do have time to walk around it before a wedding. Albeit the grounds of Dumbleton Hall alone are a hike in themselves, so come prepared, your wedding day high heels won’t cope well with the countryside trek and cattle grids!
Anyhow, it’s official, spring has arrived….there were lambs in the grounds of Dumbleton Hall, which means I require temperatures of at least 20 degrees (doh!). Alas, with a slight chill still in the air I was at least thankful for the forecast of a dry day. Overcast I can deal with, rain – well that’s for the Autumn right? It did in fact turn out fine, warm enough for an outdoor drinks reception and photos on the lawn too. Whoop whoop! We even took advantage of the beautiful tree blossom in the gardens are the rear of Dumbleton Hall.
Well, here are a small selection of Dumbleton Hall wedding photos from Andrew and Hannah’s day in May 2013.
Dumbleton Hall looks almost ‘miniscule’ set in it’s formidable grounds.
Hair and Make-up was completed earlier in the day and with Hannah in her underwear for the most part of bridal preparations, what’s blogable is limited!
Hannah’s bouquet was a mix of dusky pink and purple, cottage garden flowers. Is it wrong that I liked the crate they were delivered in most of all?
I think all Dad’s should consider a gift for their daughter on her wedding day. This was a really sweet touch from Hannah’s father before the wedding ceremony.
Andrew’s sister took ‘almost’ as many photos as me!
The next most prolific snapper was this chap….seen here checking his footage.
“Wow, what string arms you have Mat”
“Are you sure you don’t need a tissue to hand? I’ll keep it safe just in case”
Uh oh, maybe that tissue will be needed.
Andrew sympathetically ‘faking’ a tear.
Yeah, Dad was right, the tissue was needed after all :-)
Okay, we’re all fine now, the wedding ceremony can commence….before the next issue – sweaty hands!
Just slip the wedding ring onto her left hand…..
…..not with these sweaty hands I can’t…..
….give it here’ I’ll do it myself :-)
Ahhhhhh now dad needs his own tissue back!
The WEDDING KISS. A special moment for the two of you……
…so why the hell are you looking at me?
Pass the tissues someone, we’ve got to sets of damp eyes over here.
Do you really entrust your best man with your marriage certificate?
I reckon there were A LOT of photos of the flower girl.
If you google Dumbleton Hall Wedding Photos and search under images, you’re sure to come up with a photo using this ‘old window’, which I believe must be from the church or part of the building originally. It’s somewhat odd, standing lonesome in the gardens, but has no doubt proved the perfect cheesy backdrop for many photographers throughout the 80’s & 90’s. Andrew set me the task of bringing it up to date, and instead of poking their heads through the gaps, we took a more subtle approach :-)
Love a little bit of blossom in wedding photos.
I love this photo of Andrew & Hannah. It’s very much them….full of fun & laughter.
Cheese cake anyone? I had a piece and it was good.
Inside Dumbleton Hall set for the wedding breakfast.
I liked this arrangement alternating table centre pieces with flowers and candle arbors.
Brilliant. Hannah had ‘Beautiful Bride’ on her place name – sweet.
“Okay folks, let’s get this party started”
During dinner I spoke with Andy about his grooms speech, to which he said he was slightly nervous? Really I said, I had you down as being a pretty good public speaker.
A pretty good bluffer IMO. With gesticulations like this and the fine speech he produce (with no notes) he certainly wasn’t shy and had a raptures applause.
Surely, not more tears?
Setting the best man up for a remarkable speech.
I know. Quite a face huh? It’s beautiful what a camera can capture eh?
Ohh, you prefer this photo? Let’s see what the groom thinks should go into your wedding album after the speech.
