With an entire website dedicated to my photography (hardly surprising as I’m a wedding photographer), I ask myself this, “Is a wedding portfolio really necessary when you can view so many recent weddings on my blog? I’m still not sure of the answer to this one, so in a slight change of format I’ve decided to use a review of each year to pick out some of my favourite wedding photos and create a portfolio.
You could of course browse through my blog, or search by your specific wedding venue / wedding theme (see wedding inspiration menu) but perhaps it’s simpler to come here for the highlights. Yeah, for you maybe, but the enormity of the task to pick ‘just a few favourites’ then dawned on me.
This year I’ve photographed around 30 weddings throughout Gloucestershire and the surrounding Cotswolds, if I pick just a couple of favourite photos from each I’ll have a comprehensive portfolio right? At least that’s what I thought.
Taking only my blog favourites from each wedding I accumulated around 1,600 photos to choose from. That’s right, one-thousand-six-hundred…….and I’m looking for around 100 photos for a portfolio overview. Arrrhhhhhgh!
Four hours, a double espresso and two chocolate cookies later and 1,600 is finally down to a more respectable 180……but have I included all the necessary photos? Have I showed variety as a wedding photographer? Wedding details, beautiful moments, relaxed couple portraits, group shots, the back of the dress, kids at weddings, wedding venues…..the list is endless. So, taking all that on board I’ve done what every procrastinating photographer does, hoped for the best and decided to get on with it.
