I’ve got several Berkeley Castle weddings to photograph this year, with Andrew and Yasmin’s being the first. Neither of them are from Gloucestershire, in fact Andrew is Australian and they now both live in London, where it appears many of my couples who get married in the Cotswolds come from.
Despite the horrendous summer weather we’ve been having recently, it was forecast to be pretty good for the wedding day, with only the outside threat of a shower. In fact, a great day for photography with blue skies and fluffy clouds, yet warm without being too hot. This gave us plenty of opportunity to use the beautiful grounds at Berkeley Castle for a few wedding photos too. It was however rather windy, which I’m sure tested the hair stylists hairspray to the limit, if not beyond!
Anyhow, here are a few of my favourite photos from Andrew & Yasmin’s June wedding at Berkeley Castle.
At this point in the day I’d not know about Yasmins hand gesture….but I’m a fast learner and picked up on this pretty quick, even if I do say so myself. So let’s have a hand count today: One.
I take it Yasmin was pleased with the way her hair looked at the back!?
The glamorous side of a wedding…..covering up your wedding dress whilst applying last minute make-up touches.
Hand count two
Only on your wedding day can you legitimately get a friend to put your shoes on for you.
So we left the Best Western Hotel, for the slightly grander Berkeley Castle.
Did they smell nice?
With the wedding ceremony about to start, turning off your mobile phone is only polite hey.

I’ve said in numerous times in other blog posts before, but I really do like to show as much guests participation in your wedding day as possible.

Being built on a hill top (like most Castle!), Berkeley Castle certainly has a fantastic view.

Yasmin had a fantastic selection of wedding cakes. Not your typical cup cakes…..lemon pops and many more.
Is it just me, or does anyone else think the lady videoing, is looking at me, not watching the speeches!? I was probably standing in the way…..
I’m not sure, is this clapping or ‘the hand gesture’?
I presume someone forgot to take a glass up with them to toast the speeches.
Is Berkeley Castle a fairy tale wedding venue? I’d say so.
The great light always comes during the wedding breakfast. Next time, I’m thinking Bride and Groom here.
I kinda guessed Yasmin might just want to say something ;-)
It became clear by the end of the wedding day that this hand gesture is VERY Yasmin. Count number three……..closely followed below by number four!
After dinner I figured a photo with some nice window light inside Berkeley Castle was called for. A great idea, before ALL the guests arrived back in this room………or so I thought, clearly the kids had other ideas.
I’m sure the catering staff at the Castle normally give these out? Andrew stepped up to the plate instead – a nice personal touch ;-)
Groups photos can be very entertaining at times, especially if taken after dinner when everyone’s had a few drinks! (note: apart from the pregnant lady obviously!) Take one exploding handbag, with contents thrown out all over the floor – cue laughter!

Goodnight Berkeley Castle :-)
