I’ve photographed a few weddings at Cripps Stone Barn in Gloucestershire lately. It’s a popular venue, offering a quirky, rustic charm that few other wedding venues in the area can match. It’s part of the ‘Cripps Empire’, who also own nearby Cipps Barn. Their ethos is underpinned by Cripps Kichen catering, who’s approach is to buy the best food, cook it simply and serve it generously. If you’re after this style of catering, then look no further.
This year culminating with the superb day that was Allan & Claire’s moment to shine! Speaking of ‘shine’ it was November, which does make sunshine a tall order, and one that unfortunately didn’t break through the clouds. None the less, we had a dry November wedding day, what more can you ask for?
On hand to help things run smoothly were some of my favourite local suppliers including Chris Fordham on hair, and Clare Bryce with the beautification brushes! I’m pretty certain only the lightest of touches were required here though, as Claire is beautiful. The kinda beauty that comes from within and pours out in her smile. It was mentioned when I arrived that she wasn’t one to stop talking….which for want of a better interpretation, I would term, animated. Making great photos is a two way process. I’ve got the camera skills and eye for a photo, but need content. Couples who engage with each other, have great guests and generally have a fun outlook on life certainly help.
So without further waffle from me, here are a selection of some of my favourite photos from their recent wedding at Cripps Stone Barn.
We did have to go that way to get there too.
Note: cup of tea. An everyday essential. With top marks awarded for offering me a brew upon arrival too.
Clare tickles Claire with the blusher brush – get’s ’em every time.
Not one pair of wedding shoes, not even two, but THREE. Albiet wedding wellies.
A reassuring touch is sometimes all you need……oh and maybe a smile.
When Chris isn’t taking photos (his new hobbie) he does a fine line in wedding hair styling…..and veil fluffing. He’s best seen in silhouette though ;-)
Ta Na.
Final check before departure.
Inside Cripps Stone Barn with the wedding ceremony set in front of the main fire.
Simple elegent decorations – I like these.
BOOM. Love the light you get from the large barn doors at Cripps Stone Barn. Problem was, Claire was now heading for the much darker area around the fireplace for the ceremony itself – arrrrgh!
You know it!
Despite the grumpy registrars who wouldn’t let me take photos of the declaration & vows etc, I was allowed to photograph the exchange of rings.
“Check out my wedding ring Allan, we’re married don’t you know!”
…..and the best thing about this photo is? Them holding hands under the table – ahh :-)
A somewhat casual approach to photography demonstrated by the guy at the back here.
Polaroid style photos of all the wedding guests were strung up along the inside of Cipps Stone Barn to decorate it.
….all the way from Texas ;-) Or I could have made that up? Maybe just the tie – who knows?
No idea? Competitive sister perhaps? Who’s got the best Yoga arms?
Cripps Stone Barn has this fab corrugated iron covering the building giving loads of texture to B&W photos.
I have a favourite photo. This is it. Delicate, beautiful, tender, simple, elegant…..and you see the back of Claire’s wedding dress which she told me was her favourite part of it.
Someone got quite excited when she put her wells on!
Many of my weddings at Cripps Stone Barn have had fantastic skies in the evening. It’s only fair to take advantage of this.
LOVE letters :-) A nice addition to the wedding decoration.
Cheesy or fun? You decide. It’s a fine line I tread sometimes.
