With a weekend heat wave on the cards I slapped on some sun cream and prepared for Scott and Hayley’s outdoor wedding at Kingscote Barn. It was forecast to be a day of wall to wall sunshine and 20 degrees. In reality it was probaly a little warmer, yet thankfully not scorchio (ohh just wait for summer!). Their wedding has been a long time in waiting, as I recall speaking to Scott at least 18 months prior to the date, if not more. It certainly came around quickly though and I’m sure the day itself also went by in a flash!
I’ve photographed many weddings at Kingscote Barn but this was the first time for an outdoor ceremony there. The setting is perfect, with rolling views across beautiful farmland all nestled in alongside the barn itself. There is also an unknown benefit of having an outdoor wedding at Kingscote Barn, which isn’t so much something clients may notice, but a bonus for me the photographer and/or the catering staff. And that is, the main barn can be prepared earlier for the wedding breakfast, giving me more time to photograph it, but also a little extra breathing space during the drinks reception when catering staff usually’ turn the room around’. It certainly looked amazing inside too, with flowers from Sorori Design and wedding styling by Lauren Grey. The room layout of two long banquet tables looks great in the barn, although only really lends itself to smaller wedding parties (no not in height, in number of guests!).
An outdoor wedding at Kingscote Barn, with pretty much the perfect weather….albeit the mid day light is a little too contrasty for a photographer ;-)
Today was the first time I met the lovely make-up artist Emily Tarrant. I know Hayley was specifically after a very natural look to her make-up and seeing the results what Emily produced was brilliant. Very much in keeping with the brief, and all the girls looked fantastic.
Spending ages faffing around with a lot of detail shots isn’t really my thing…..I ideally like to capture people. I’m not one to set up a photo of all your jewelry, the perfume bottle and every last detail etc, but a quick shot of your shoes and dress are typically covered. These shoes however were fab…….I love the ribbon laces, something really floaty & etherial about them.
Ohh yeah, I do take photos of the flowers too…..heck what am I going on about, I just take photos of everything pretty much.
….even people stretching!
Ta na…..one bridesmaid in her dress, just three to go!
Peek a boo, number two!
Yep, Hayley looks pleased with her make-up.
Flowers in her hair, and flowers in a jug.
Smiley bride, clearly pleased with her flowery crown….or is it called a wedding headband? Anyone know?
Wedding hair specialist Chris Fordham probably does, but then again he also knows all the moves to Gangnam Style too ;-)
Clearly Hayley is less impressed with this!
Okay, make-up and hair done, now into the wedding dress.
With Hayley ready, it was off to Kingscote Barn, ready for the wedding ceremony. But first, a quick zip around inside to photograph the barn which looked amazing.
Ah happy days, spring sunshine and an outdoor wedding ceremony.
Any trouble and Scott would be forced to use this.
Dum dum de dum, dum de de dum.
Okay, who put all this tricky foliage in my way to take photos? Maria – was this your doing? ;-)
Scott does make some great faces.
Not only did Scott and Hayley have readings during ther wedding ceremony, but a friend also sang.
Two camera men and a director of photography.
With the oil seed rape on it’s last legs it was a must to get a few photos on the driveway leading down to Kingscote Barn during this pretty time of year.
This table layout at Kingscote barn looks great.
Loving the silk and hessian table runners at Kingscote Barn. They perfectly suit the long banquet style layout.
Cake cutting was completed just before Scott and Hayley wnet rhough to the wedding breakfast.
Clearly not all wedding guests like to see the happy couple kissing!
“Yep, that’s nice nail polish for sure!”
Whilst wedding guests took thier seat in the barn, we nipped out briefly for a couple more portraits before dinner.
Chink
All the best Mr & Mrs McKenzie :-)
