Winter wedding at Berkeley Castle – William & Louise

The month of February kicked off with a rather windy winter wedding at Berkeley Castle.  At least it wasn’t raining, which is something we’ve had a lot of this year to date!  However, blue skies does not mean a warm day, and with a stiff breeze to contend with this wasn’t going to be a winter wedding with guests hanging around outside!

I started out at Tortworth Court for bridal preps, where I met Louise for the first time.  It’s become more frequent to not necessarily meet with clients beforehand (what with everyone having busy schedules) so it’s quite fun when you first get to put a face to a name.  I quickly picked up on the fact Louise was a fun time bride (and also a doctor) and very much down with me ‘doing my thing’.  In fact, I was apparently so stealth, Louise later in the day mentioned she hadn’t really noticed me at all.  Thank goodness I was in fact busy beavering away taking photos, not simply snacking on the canapés.

I’d not met William previously either, but built up a small picture based on Louise’s and the bridesmaids descriptions ;-) It was going to be clear on the day he’d be wearing a kilt, and most notably, Louise would also be wearing flat heals!

I soon shot off over to Berkeley Castle, where I was greeted with grey skies (and for the geeky ones amongst you, ISO400 indoors!).  Sure enough this soon blow over, but it did make it a tad dark for the wedding ceremony.  All I ask is for small favours, like some light during daylight hours, after all the clue is in the name. Regardless of these challenges it all came good in the end, although photos outdoors in a tropical storm were decided against, in leau of time inside by the fires.

Anyhow, without further ado, sit back and enjoy a few photos from William & Louise’s winter wedding at Berkeley Castle.

Tortworth Court is a good place to stay if you are having a Bridal preps prior to a winter wedding at Berkeley Castle

For the keen eyed amongst you, this indeed is not Berkeley Castle, but in fact Tortworth Court. I can also confirm, having walked all the way to the top of the building ‘room 106’ is in fact not in the main house, but a half mile trek down a very long corridor, akin to a rabbit warren.

Decisions, decisions…..veil over the face or not, that is the question?

I love this photo.  It’s got so much going on which is typical of the final frantic moments before the bride leaves for the wedding ceremony.

Okay, so William is the one in the Kilt – gotcha!

William & Louise had a fantastic drinks reception….so good in fact I spent about an hour photographing just the guests, before swiftly moving onto a few group shots before dinner.

It not unreasonable for kids to bring their own entertainment eh?

Have I ever mentioned the great light you get in this room at Berkeley Castle – wow.  Super timing by Louise too – thanks for that.

Meanwhile, whilst guests enjoyed the drinks reception, I ventured out for a quick photo op of Berekely Castle, bathed in glorious sunshine.  Albeit it was very chilly, rather damp under foot and blowing a hoolie.  (see below: no gimmicks there folks, it’s real wind I tell you!)

I do believe the cake matches the bouquet?

I haven’t seen a mirrored table plan for a long time now.  I do rather like them, great for photo opportunities.

There was no first dance at William & Louise’s wedding, it was all onto the dance floor for a good old Scottish ceilidh.
